Our clients architect put forward a recommendation for us and we were set an exciting challenge. Working closely with the client and a local builder, we were to offer design advice, creating finishes schemes and designing a kitchen for this professional couple with two children.
From our initial visit, we could see that this late 19th century farmhouse needed to be carefully balanced with its beautiful surroundings and the fantastic vaulted ceiling in the new kitchen/ dining space. What we did not expect was the collapsed cellar discovered during the build. It was important to maintain a link with the very picturesque positioning of the property, its rich history and the needs of a busy modern family. Sympathetic material choices, for example the rustic dining table, blended with contemporary accent finishes of red glass and display niches all resulted in a wow factor home not intimated by the bold.
